About Department of Technical Education
Department of Technical Education is a department of the Department of Technical and Madrasa Education under the Ministry of Education, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It was established in 1970 with the aim of creating skilled human resources through the expansion and improvement of technical education. The last half-century has seen the spread of many branches of technical education and administration. The main function of the department is to establish liaison with 4 national and international organizations related to human resource management, development activities, supervision of academic activities, and technical education.
The total number of educational institutions under the department is 119. Teaching activities are conducted at three levels namely Certificate, Diploma and Degree level. There are 64 technical schools and colleges at the certificate level. 1 Vocational Teachers Training Institute. Diploma level 49 polytechnic institutes and degree level technical teachers training colleges-1, engineering colleges-4.
The Department of Technical Education is located at F-4 / B, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Administrative Area, Agargaon, Dhaka-1207.
